Mama’s Fish House

The views were spectacular! The food…

As you know, we were in Maui celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we just had to have dinner at Mama’s. The prices were exorbitant, but it came highly recommended from travel blogs, food review magazines, and this wonderful little old lady we met on our flight from Los Angeles to Maui. Needless to say, the expectations were high.

We pulled onto the grounds about an hour before sunset and we were immediately enamored by the views. Never ending majestic palm trees hugged the cliff and other areas of the grounds. Spectacular location.

Dinner was started with a mushroom bisque soup to tantalize your pallette and it did just that. Now this, this was spectacular. I thought perhaps everyone was right about Mama’s.

The prospects sounded delicious, it was really hard selecting an entrée. I settled on the Opah, Mahimahi and Ahi sauteed in Panang Curry and coconut milk with tropical condiments and Mama’s mango chutney while the hubby feasted on Tristan Island Lobster Tails from the most remote inhabited island in the world.

Both meals were good, but spectacular they were not. For the price, we expected more perhaps; our expectations were not attainable, but right now I can name at least three food experiences that were out of this world.

Mama’s will always have a place in my heart because I was surprised with an exquisite diamond here, but I don’t see myself returning for another visit.
