Happy ALMOST Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day isn’t until tomorrow, but with expected rain all day, the family and I headed to Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia.

After a short ten minute drive, we pulled up but never had a chance to make it inside. I literally had my hand on big girl’s seat belt when the river in her tummy errupted and all the yummy goodness from within flowed EVERYWHERE ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

Guess we are imposing the no milk in the car policy once again. I was very disappointed as we drove back to hubby’s childhood home to get her and the car cleaned up. After a glass of wine I adjusted my perspective and relaxed with the kids in the backyard.

Here’s some of the memories we created.

CRAWLERS?

THIS IS IT!

The beginning of the end as we know it!ย  Our daughter has been scooting around on her arms for weeks (it’s hilarious) and our son was slowly inching towards things. Four days ago it all changed. We have NOT ONE, BUT TWO crawlers!!!!

We left Maryland with an inch worm and a very content boy whose means of transportation was occasionally rolling around. We returned with not just crawlers – they are pulling themselves up on any and everything, including each other. My son is on the losing end most of the times.ย  He’sย  taking steps when you hold his hand whereas before, you used your hand to move his legs for him.

My daughter crawls with one knee up and one down.
image

Our son is a full blown crawler. He crawls on all four.

A dear friend of mine bought the twins walkers. I still have my money on my boy walking first just like I told y’all he would crawl first.

Stay tuned to see if I’m right ๐Ÿ˜‰

TWINSIES CHRISTENING

Yesterday we woke up to the most glorious day. The day we would be christening our twins.ย  So much excitement was in the air.ย  We’ve been planning this day for weeks and IT’S HERE!!! I can’t wait to see them in their outfits!

My son will be rocking his first tailored suit at 8 months old ๐Ÿ˜ฎ thanks to the wonderful Erica’s Bridal.

Hubby and I had a few errands before we were off to church.ย  As we drove through the different neighborhoods, I admired the spring blooms. How did I not start appreciating such beauty until two years ago?ย  There’s so much beauty to behold; it’s all about our perspectives.

Service was expected to start at 10:45 a.m. Would you believe me if I told you we were actually ON TIME?๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Yes it’s a big deal for me ๐Ÿ™‚

Our second in command, Pastor Nelson, performed the most beautiful dedication service…well, if the twins were awake to hear it. These two slept almost the entire time. Life is hard being a baby. ๐Ÿ˜‚
image

As they say, it takes a village to raise a child; but all you need is one big sister when it’s picture time.
image

Big girl left the altar and came back “here’s your phone mommy and daddy” – lol

We’ve chosen these lovelies to assist us with raising our twins.ย  Meet the God Parents.
image

I love her and her little family so much.ย  I admire the way they raise their kids, so ideally they were a great fit to help parent our bundles of joy. I’m so glad they accepted the challenge.

A very important man was not with us today, our beloved PopPop. We missed you but I know unequivocally you were smiling down on us. Continue watching over us. WE LOVE YOU โค

We are so appreciative to those who were able to celebrate with us. The day would not have been the same without you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Easter Egg Roll

It wasn’t at the White House (Yes I was still a little bitter) but I knew there would be good food, a good time and my daughter would have fun with girlfriend (that’s what Ms. J calls our neighbor) and her family.

The sun was shinning oh so beautifully but it wasn’t what it seemed. It was quite windy with temperatures in the 50s. The kids couldn’t wear the matching outfits planned but we were able to pull something together.

Why is it the kids closets are full but the momebt you try to put an outfit together it seems they don’t have any clothes at all?! 👀

Anyway, we pulled up at Gilbert Run Park late as usual (it’s a struggle getting anywhere on time). While Gramma and I unloaded the kids and all their gears Hubby went to check out the food and it was all gone.:'( Thank goodness we never leave home without a few snacks.

We stayed in the car until it was time to line up for the hunt. Let the fun begin!! Jayla had a blast and she even found $7 in her eggs.  She and her Gramma had a good time hunting and the twins had fun on the swings.

Ice cream Anyone?

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.  Sometimes lemonade just isn’t enough.

We’ve been planning to go into the city during the Cherry Blossom Festival since last year.  Last Monday hubby, the twinsies and I headed out to do just that but we never made it 😐

Construction on a major highway in the middle of the day..why not?  To make matters worse, my son was screaming at the top of his lungs. I  had to pull over but he wouldn’t calm down.  I was at my wits end when hubby suggested ice cream at the National Harbor.

It was a little windy for the twins but a perfect moment for the hubster and I. We kicked back on the pier and gazed into the city ๐Ÿ™‚

Gilbert Run Photoshoot

Last year we did a photoshoot here when the twins were about two months old (profile photo was my fave). Since then life has been very hectic but quite fulfilling.  Scheduling is vital. We are capable of so much more than we realize until we are forced to deal with what we consider “impossible”.

Like anything in life there are good days and there are bad days luckily the bad days fail in comparison.  Ms. Jayla is the perfect little company keeper. She keeps me laughing through all the chaos. I love watching her interactions with her brother and sister.  I don’t who loves harder. The twins beam with excitement at just the sound of her voice, they don’t even have to see her. It is quite lovely to see.  They make me so happy ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the pics.

VEGGIE PASTA

Time is constant, but we are always looking for more of it. For those days when I’m feeling lazy or I’m pressed for time, here’s something that’s not only nutritious and quick to whip up, but also really delicious! My two taste-testers, hubby and Ms. J, don’t mind ๐Ÿ™‚

image

What you will need to prep:
1. Wash and slice 2 ZUCCHINI
2. Wash and slice 2 SQUASH
3. Chop 2 ONIONS
5. Marinate with Old Bay, Accent, Adobo, and black pepper, a large bag of thawed SHRIMP
6. Wash and chop 2 stems ofย BROCCOLIย florets

Let’s get to it!
1. Saute half the onion, then add shrimp; cook and set aside

image

2. Sautee the rest of the onion, then add broccoli and cook for 5 minutes

3. Add zucchini; cook for another 5 minutes

4. Add squash; season with same spices from above

image

5. While veggies are cooking, season pasta and shrimp with above spices

image

6. Mix pasta with veggies and season to taste if needed

image

7. On low heat, let flavors simmer for about 10 minues

image

I like to add grape tomatoes for a punch of color during the last two minutes.

This will definitely be a recurring meal as soon as the twinsies can eat solid food :*)

Enjoy

HOPPY EASTER

20150422072101

Easter is one of those holidays that I look forward to. While I’m not a fan of all the sweets, I enjoy making little treats for my baby girl.ย  My MIL found a pancake bunny photo in a magazine and I decided to recreate it. Check out the Easter breakfast post to find out how I did.

This Easter was extra special as we shared it with our twin bunnies and our two year old.ย  Sometimes I wonder how is it I’m a MOM of THREE! At seven months, these little bunnies are not official crawlers but they know how to get around. They babble all day saying mama, dada, baba and an occasional nana.

Sunday morning we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to church. When we returned we had a nice little family photoshoot ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some of my faves

I hope you all had an EGGtastic Easter. Until next year….

EIGHT MONTHS

Today the twins turned 8 months. Only 4 more months until the big day!!!

I cannot begin to tell you just how excited I am (I literally just did my happy dance).  I must admit though, I am a nervous wreck because I have no idea what theme I will use for their party. There’s so much with keeping up with three littles under three I honestly haven’t thought much about it besides with two there’s so much more to think about.  If you come across any cute ideas please share โ˜บ

SO.. what have they been up to?

Enid A. Haupt Garden

image

It was a beautiful spring day, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, the winds were calm and temperatures were in the 70’s.

Downtown DC was bustling as usual, it was rush hour and by some sheer luck I found parking on the side street across from the garden. I leaped with joy. I loaded the twinsies in their stroller and off we went.ย  As I walked into the garden I was amazed by its grandeur. A beautiful castle peering atop the magnificent pink cherry blossom trees. It was so much more than I expected.

image

As I explored the garden further, I nodded with approval; it was like many described it; a gem in the middle of the city, not spoiled by all the tourists ( well I’m putting it out there now).

image

Iย  wanted to see different local places to experience DC’s cherry blossom time of the year; I’m glad this was on the list.

This is the first stop on my 2015 DC Travels list, and I chose it because my grandma (who just celebrated her 79th birthday on April 9th) also shares the same name, Enid.

image

Nestled in the heart of the city, the Enid A.ย Haupt Garden is part of the renowned Smithsonian Gardens. It sits atop a museum and two galleries. Amongst other things, Haupt was an American publisher and a garden enthusiast.

Thank you for your generous donation. My twinsies and I enjoyed our visit. I can’t wait to see them and their big sister running around. I can already hear their laughter โ˜บ

image

These pics are from my two-hour trip into the city during my 3 hour road trip home. I have a DC addiction I know, but to be fair the blossoms only last about two weeks and besides, I know you wanted to see them too ๐Ÿ™‚ You know you did!
